Peter, There is no doubt about what you say. All one has to do is look in their owners manual and they will see the routeing of the exhaust and the bends it makes to release pressure.

Great to know it's nothing unusual, Herb, did gutting the converter make a difference?
Peter, I think your opinion has merit. Makes sense to me. I'm still looking to go ahead with the installation of the test pipe vs the converter. Hope it works John

I think it has more to do with exhaust temperature, versus length of manifold/pipe-to-muffler. My Borla is routed that the left-side exhaust tip follows from the front bank manifold and the right-side from the rear manifold. If more condensation comes out of the left-side, it's because its had more of a chance to cool down from traveling the extra length of tubing (from all the way up front manifold). The right-side condensation weaker (ie: because its hotter) because it just travelled half the length from the engine.

That's my theory, based on what my exhaust system looks like.

My 308 with gutted converters gets a vapor from the left side only when warming up.

I couldn't agree more about this site, it's a life saver and there are good people aboard.
Just to add a bit to the exhaust question, when I start the 328, vapor will show in the exhaust on the left side (assuming the left side facing the rear of the car (driver's side)). It will disappear quickly as the engine warms up.
I too find the exhaust on the right side to be more then the left.
I have a test pipe (replaces the converter)and can't help myself so will have the converter taken out. I will let you know how that changes the exhaust. John

Yup, 308's will do that.

No kidding, if this little neighborhood didn't exist I wouldn't have a clue how to fix all the things that go wrong with my car. This chat room and all the nice people in it make owning a Ferrari an even better experience.
Have fun and feel free to ask anything,
Scott

Thanks, Scott. Not too many neighbors with 308QV's to ask questions like this around here. It helps to have a cyber neighborhood!

I had the same problem until I found out that, it's not really a problem at all. Check out the post "308 Exhaust clogged?" Almost all these later model 308 breath that way. So no worries, but definaely ask around.
Best of luck
Scott

I just noticed the exhaust coming from the left side of my '85 U.S. 308QV is not as strong as the right side. Only one cat and one stock (probably original)muffler on this car. No other signs that something is wrong. The car runs fine with 41,xxx on the clock. Is this normal or am I worried about running out of projects?
