My orders from England have typically been $1,500 to $4,000 USD, with the duty being 2.5% + a $5.00 UPS customs handling fee....

I've ordered from Jeff H. and also from Mike at Superformance. All these orders have been for modest amounts (>$200). I think I've paid UPS duty once when one of these guys needed a company name as part of the importation. Otherwise, everything has been plain sailing. If I was to guess, I'd say it depends on if the item is for personal consumption versus onsale, but it is just a guess. Anyone?

Jeff...when I received my order from you recently, the duty charges were very similar in price to Mike's.

Jeff,
I have received customs billing from FEDEX on the orders I have received from you. Worked out to be about $10.00 on a $450.00 order, plus a FEDEX fee of $5.00. I understand that it depends on the type of merchandise and the grand total of the shipment. The higher the amount, the percentage goes up. Certainly not expensive.

Jeff,

It all depends on how you mark the UPS/FedEx declaration/import paperwork. Naturally it is less than VAT :-) So far it seems to be very minimal from my orders and i can not recall if i have ever received customs papers for duty owed. Can not find specific info at http://www.customs.ustreas.gov . Maybe importing is free :-)

Thanks for reminding me, need to order more from you soon.

Enjoy the Drive,

Hi all.

I think we'd all find it interesting to know what is the general rule in terms of cost when US Customs apply duty in the 'States.

We in the UK have nothing on this and I think it would be an interesting area to explore, particularly as many of our spares go 'States-side.

Some experiences please...
