At this point in time they ALL leak at the top seam. If they're not leaking now that means they have already been fixed or they are about to start leaking. I see this problem with 308's more than any other. |

pulled the radiator out this past weekend...had a small leak at the seem on top so I figured pull it out get the radiator cleaned and repaired and replace the switch...WHAT A PITA to get it out...spoiler had to come off 50% of the little bolts snapped...radiator was such a tight fit in the frame...lots of bruised knuckles...anyway, the radiator switch was a veglia, so I'm guessing it was the original..radiator was super clean just sprouted a small leak along the upper seam (I recently switched to orange coolant and suspect it) radiator shop painted it with a glossy black paint that I now have to removed and repaint with semi gloss... |

I think I like # 8.124.22 for 14.95 and use the rest for a cruise and lunch better. DJ |

Dave: The temp switch triggers low current relay coils. The big current goes thru the relay contacts. Having said that, the Ferrari part handles more than one relay, the VW part might not. Shouldn't matter, but......... |

I haven't heard of that amp problem before. Thanks for letting us know. I have had the VW 180 degree in mine for a couple of years now with no problems. So far so good. |

Paul, entirely possible it may be intermittent, but I would also bleed the radiator, as that could cause an intermittent too, if the coolant is not touching the temp switch. I too, would recommend the VW switch, as you can even get them with a slightly lower temperature trip setting (180 degrees) I think the factory one is around 192 degrees. One caveat, it has been mentioned that the Ferrari part is designed to handle higher amperage, as it is operating two larger fan motors, while the VW switch only handles one. But I have yet to hear of anyone having a problem with the VW part. |

From our cross-reference page: The fan switch is from Automotive Performance Systems in Camarillo, California. Their # is (805)388-7171.Ask for the 2 pole fan switch part # 8.124.22 They have the same switch in a 3 pole configuration so be specific. The price is $14.95. 180 degree

They go bad. They are the same as used on water-cooled VW's back in the 80's. Tip: DO NOT BUY a "Ferrari" fan switch for $46,000. Get on the net and buy a VW switch for $12 or so. |

The temp sensor went south on mine. Don't know if it is a common problem or if it can go intermittant. Agree with Brian, check the wiring first. |

Check the fuseboxes for signs of overheated circuits, melting/warping of plastic components. |

break? Do they just stop functioning? or perhaps do they die slowly? I ask because today I had my 308 out and the fans refused to come on ..started pissing out coolant...I kicked the a/c to get one of the fans going...got the car home and jumped the switch...fans worked fine....then fans began to cycle correctly based on Temp..strange? Anything else I should be checking?
