Which model of 250 engine? According to the "Ferrari Tuning Tips and Maintenance Techniques" by John Apen & Gerald Roush, here are all of the 250 rod & main sizes: Early 250 (up to 1959) connecting rod: -Standard: 41.275 mm / 1.6249" -1st over: 41.021 mm / 1.6149" -2nd over: 40.767 mm / 1.6049" -3rd over: 40.513 mm / 1.5949" -4th over: 40.259 mm / 1.5849" Early 250 main bearings: -Standard: 50.000 mm / 2.1654" -1st over: 54.746 mm / 2.1554" -2nd over: 54.492 mm / 2.1454" -3rd over: 54.238 mm / 2.1354" -4th over: 53.984 mm / 2.1254" ------------------------------------- Later 250 connecting rod: -(same as early 250) Later 250 Main bearing: -Standard: 59.962 mm / 2.3607" -1st over: 59.708 mm / 2.3507" -2nd over: 59.454 mm / 2.3407" -3rd over: 59.200 mm / 2.3307" -4th over: 58.946 mm / 2.3207" They mention that anything over the second oversize, the crank should be nitrided to restore the hardness. And anything after the fourth oversize, either throw it in the garbage, or if desperate enough, hard-chrome, then re-grind. |

Someone I know is looking for the specs on the main bearing journals and the rod bearing journals on a crankshaft for a Ferrari 250 engine. Can someone give me the specs, or point the way? |
