Thanks all. Mark, I'll try your "shop rag" technique ;). Ron |

Ron, Sounds fine to me, I drive my 348 as often as I can, which what with work commitments and time on my motorcycle unfortunately only amounts to about twice a month but only about 40-60 miles each of those times (unless I do a special trip to an event of some description). I've now done about 750 miles in the car in one year, when I bought it at 11 years old it had done documented 2600 miles! So I may use it only a little but its a darned site more on average than either of the two other owners from new, the first of which just bought it to try and make a quick buck....after 10 years of ownership he didn't! |

Ron: The 328s seem to have a poorly designed shifter seal. Here's my story. I thought my car had engine oil leaks because the pan was always oily. The shifter seal was replaced about 2 yrs ago so I didn't think that was the source of the leak, however, since I tied a shop rag around the shifter seal, like a diaper--the bottom of the engine has been bone dry. John, Your point is well taken, but I owned 308's and observed others when they were well less than 14 years old and my observation holds. I don't know why this would be other than newer, better developed systems. I'm just pointing out what I have experienced and seen. In any event, I average 6k+ per year on Fcars so I am solidly in the drive 'em camp. Dave |

Thanks...that's a relief to know. You know, I hate to just drive the car around (when it's clean, waxed, and covered) bec. I worry that something may go wrong if I don't use it. The car has about 25,500 miles to date. As an addendum to my question, I noticed recently that there's some greasy material on the garage floor where the car is parked. My oil level is at the "max" level. What could the source of this "leak" be? Transmission? Ron |

I have observed that 328's don't seem to suffer from non running as much as 308's. Because they're as much as 14 years younger, maybe? |

Ron, You are driving plenty. BTW when I bought my 328 a little over a year ago, it had just 7K miles and only 1K in the previous 5 years and everything has been fine in the 4K+ I have put on it so far. As an aside, I have observed that 328's don't seem to suffer from non running as much as 308's. I don't know why this is. Dave |

To some people like me, sometimes, 200 miles a year is average....2 or three times a month is fine, and I wouldn't force myself to drive the car when I don't need to. Just remember, with Ferraris, anything can happen...drive them when you want enjoy them, and don't worry 200 miles is plenty enough a month in my humble opinion. |

Hi all. When people talk about Ferrari problems/malfunctions as a result of not being driven for a while, what length of time are we talking about? I drive my 328 about 2-3x a month, averaging a little under 200 miles/month; Is this okay? Tnx. |
