The first time I saw it I had to have it. It probably won't be the last time that happens. Even though the cap is grossly over priced, the Ferrari script doesn't line up, and nobody sees it, I somehow am still satisfied with the purchase. Hell, I want an oil cap to match! BTW, it does help to know that I wasn't the only sucker.

Yes...it's funny how F-cars cast a mystical spell on us and cause us to spend money so irrationally...isn't it?

Eric, you spent $100 dollars on a gas cap that you probably didn't need? I thought I was the only person who would do that. I feel better now. I think I'll get one.

That didn't work for me, but I just won't tighten it to the max. It isn't loose any so it should be ok. I'll check it for movement after the next time I drive. Hey, can I get the same looking cap for the oil, like the Modena? I think that would be cool!

That's funny. Mine doesn't line up either. I going to try that. It may seem stupid because nobody sees it, but I bought the car for me anyway. To think, I never thought about trying that. I love F-Chat!

Henry...actually, I kept "playing" with the starting point of rotating the cap on until I finally got it to line up when tightened. It's an excessive compulsive disorder that I'm still trying to work on .

Eric,

Looks great. Unfortunately not many people get to see it. Did you get lucky and the "Ferrari" lines up just right or did you adjust it for the picture?

Polished fits the Mondial as well...same cap for oil and fuel. (Ok, different caps physically but the same part #.)

I don't need one, just thought I would offer this for others that might need one....

I have used the spring loaded flap type caps, and they suck. Used one on my Honda, and it always leaked, and such. Used one on a Nissan, same thing. Not recommeded.

Henry...yes, the 355 polished cap will fit the 308 (and probably the 328 as well). I purchased one for my 308 QV to replace the older black style...here's a pic:

Plan on spending around $100 or so for the 355 cap from the Dealer, though. You might also try one of F-Chat's sponsors at www.sodacoms.com or www.ferraripartsexchange.com

Hope this helps...

Sorry David but I don't have any info for you.

I was wondering though if the gas cap off a 355 (nice polished aluminum w/Ferrari on it) would fit. I know that this is contrary to you looking for a cheap replacement.

There is also a aftermarket cap that has a spring loaded flap on the cap so the cap itself doesn't have to be removed. Does anyone know if this would fit? Also does anyone know if this cap would prevent the nozzle from automatically shutting off all the time when filling?

I think I found an inexpensive replacement. Was looking through the latest www.international-auto.com catalog, and noticed that the alfa screw on gas cap looks identical to a 308/328 gas cap. Measured the diameter and it matches, but they do not give a thread pitch, so there may be some risk here, but the picture looks identical to mine. part# 13011 Alfa gas cap, screw on, 60mm
