Andy, the 77's were the last year of the nice zippered vinyl cover, 78's no longer had them...and by your reference (interesting to note), the change must have occured sometime late in 77...I would surmise for the 78 model year cars. This little vinyl piece being inquired about here just keeps the hot air (or cold air in the winter) from blowing into the under dash area. The spare was a little to big to fit without this vinyl covered cutout area of the plastic liner. |

Tom, My car has a December '77 build date so maybe that explains the difference. Thanks |

Back in 81 a friend who had a 77 GTB had the vinyl cover on his. I do not believe the later cars had them. I wonder why Ferrari quit adding it to the cars? |

My 77 308 doesn't have a vinyl flap that you folks are talking about. I have a fiberglass cover over the brake master, resevoir, booster, heater boxes, etc. My spare is not covered in any way and the windshield washer resevoir hangs over it. I don't see where a flap would attach. Were there two different cofigurations for these covers? |

Clyde, My 1976 308 GTB has the vinyl cover with the zipper for the flap that covers the spare wheel. If this is what your car has, I'll take a picture of it and post it here. Barry |

I had a vinyl flap like JRV describes, that attached to my fiberglass tire well. Ferrari says only the whole thing (flap & fiberglass) is available for over $500. I suspect the flap came unglued from the fiberglass and the paint shop simply layed it down & lost it. Sigh. So if anybody has a pic of theirs they can pass on with whatever measurements so I can have it replicated. Thanks. |

Clyde - I'll be pulling mine off this weekend to "fix" my heater valve. I'll get you whatever pics you need. Do you need measurements also? I'll be happy to help you any way I can. |

Is this something that my '79 should have as well? |

It's just a piece of black vinyl cut in a sorta triangle shape and glued to the back of the big plastic insert, sorta even with the bottom of the insert...maybe slightly longer as it lays under the spare a touch. |

Yours is a vinyl flap? Mine is made of fiberglass and screws down. Is this on your 83? |

Had my car nose repainted & the shop "lost" the vinyl flap in the Spare Tire well that hides the Brake PB, A/C, Wiper motor et al. Can someone snap a shot of theirs so I can have one fashioned? ASAP please, as the car is at the Upolster's now. Thanks. |
