Details, details... Are they using parts from yours, or all new? Have they done 308s before? What kind of price? I need to do something about mine too, and haven't decided yet which way to go, local radiator shop or racing-type application. Thanks |

Does anyone have any experience with these people? http://www.evanscooling.com/catalog/C_rads1.htm Their prices seem pretty decent. |

I've hear some talk about CRX radiator cores being the same size. I haven't personally checked, but I know CRX radiators are on ebay all the time. Maybe you could buy a new radiator on ebay and take it to a local shop for the work? Let us know what you end up doing. Thanks. |

I've noticed more than one thread in which someone mentions having different fans than original. FYI, on my 77 GTB I found the fans inoperative one day and traced the failure to the fuse block. The rivets used were loosening up and not making contact. I soldered them all to their respective "lug" and haven't had a fan problem since. |

Dr tommy, I have heard more fins are better, but just seemed that they were too close. I cant get very much air flow, I was wondering if they werent so close if I could get more air to flow past them. The air coming out is hot but just not enough air flow, maybe I need new fans, but the fins do seem close to the point where the fans cant push it through. |

Ben - The fins are real close to make room for more fins. The more fins on it, the more total surface area there is to radiate heat away from the water. The air will get thru just fine. |

Tazio! I had mine recored, looks original but the internals are improved. Runs in Toronto summer traffic with 1 working fan and no overheating. You need to find a place that will use the same tanks and ensure the mounting points are dimensionally correct. Check with Rocco, that is who got mine done. (Do you have a new phone # at work? I tried calling you) |

Speaking of radiators anyone else have a cooling problem? I noticed on mine the fins were so close together the fans couldnt push enough air through. I already have aftermarket fans but just seems like I dont have enough air flow. Anyone else notice this? |

>>My question is what do I have to look for in re-coring a rad? Can any rad shop do it or do I need some special kind of core? <, don't know about 'any' shop, but any larger shop should be able with ease. A recore is a good idea as there are much better Cores availible these days. You can easily get 1-3 extra rows in the header tanks without any mods. The last one I did for a street car, an L-Core was used with 2-3 additional rows...big improvement....any good Radiator Shop can advise you on the latest improvements in design for your application...typical cost I'd guess about $400. |

I did a search but lacked a few clear answers. I am looking to re-core the radiator in my 77 GTB. In truth I am not sure if the rad needs to be re-cored however it has a tiny leak and I was recommended that to keep temperatures down, a rad of that age (it is still the original unit)would do well with a re-core. My question is what do I have to look for in re-coring a rad? Can any rad shop do it or do I need some special kind of core? What should I expect to pay and what should I ask for when shopping around? Any help would be very much appreciated. Just as an aside, I am not interested in a fancy aluminum rad. A simple re-core of the original is all I need. |
