Agree with Ben - 12 qts. Put in 9 to fill the dry sump full, run the engine for a minute or two (to fill the engine sump), stop, add the last three into the dry sump that were pumped into the engine sump while the engine ran. Rgds, Vince |

Mine took only 12qts - SWEPCO Dino (non synth) 15-40, overfilling is BAD. -Ben |

I've taken to flipping the TR oil filter D-ring over -- flat side to engine, round side to bottom of groove -- for the last year or 2 with good results (something one of the UK posters recommended here IIRC). Be gentle with the oil sump drain plug -- I've had to retap mine and I think others have too. The threaded portion of the plug is rather short and the cast housing that it screws into isn't made of the strongest Aluminum on the planet. There's not a flange on the oil sump drain plug so probably best to stay with the 16 x 22 x 1.5 or 16 x 22 x 2 Cu washer size. On the oil pan drain plug (with flange), any of the 16 x 22 or 16 x 24 or 16 x 26 or 5/8" x 1" sizes for the Cu washer in a reasonable thickness (1.5~3 mm) is probably OKish. I wouldn't stress out about trying to refill to the absolute max -- for US street driving you could probably be 3 qts low in a TR and it wouldn't matter much -- JMO. |

I always buy 16qts for my TR and end up with one left over. |

I am just about ready to do my first oil change on my TR myself. Does anyone know how much oil I will need and what type they recommed, is there anything I should watch out for or is it just straight forward. |
