Not saying that this is necessarily your no-start problem, but it's something (relatively easy) to check so you can rule it out (or in):
1. The TR "starter is cranking line" wiring network is white/blue (BL) in color.
2. When the plunger in the starter solenoid is energized its physical motion closes a switch inside the solenoid and puts +12V on the white/blue wire leaving the back of the solenoid -- so the first thing to check is that that connection is healthy/reseat (it's a female-to-male spade on the back of the starter solenoid itself).
3. If that looks OKish, measure the voltage on the 2nd from left terminal in the "y" connector at the bottom of the fusepanel when cranking the starter -- it should go +12V (there should be enough of the metal terminal showing that you can do this with everything plugged in). The "y" connector is the lower right of the 4 white horizontal connectors at the bottom of the fusepanel (as facing the fusepanel from the front of the car), and the 2nd from left terminal in the "y" connector will have two white/blue wires:

Thanks Steve-- This started as an intermittent problem a year ago and has gradually occurred more often. Sometimes it appeared that just "wiggling" the key in the ignition switch caused it to correct itself, but I suspect it may be a weak connection. I have not verified spark, but I'll try those two connectors as well as the coil connections.

By "no ignition" do you literally mean that you've verified no spark to the spark plugs during cranking or just that it doesn't fire up? Easiest first thing to do is check/clean/reseat the two connectors (one square, one round) sort of under the coolant expansion tank on the LH side of the engine bay (just follow the leads from the flywheel rotation sensors IIRC), and freshening/checking/reseating all the coil connections wouldn't hurt either.
There's a wiring network -- BL (white/blue) color wires IIRC -- that should go +12V when cranking (to inform the various ECUs that you're cranking). I'll check the TR wiring diagram later to see if there's a convenient place to measure/confirm/deny if that part of the system is working.

1989 TR - When key is in start position engine turns over but no ignition. As key is released back to run position I can feel it try to fire.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
