Considering the cost of used stock Euro cams, just send yours to elgin cams for welding and regrinding to your desired specs. They may even exchange them for you because they stock some popular ferrari shafts. The cost is I believe $260 US per shaft. Im going this route myself after considering a set of euro cams for my car. Its not worth buying the stock ones. |

Good question Fedev. FYI, Superformance, of the UK, can provide euro cams for 1050 BP a set. Anyone know the specs on the euro cams and whether one could expect better perfomance with them, assuming the lower compression ratios of the US cars and appropriate ignition timing and carb rejetting? |

I haven't tried this, but, in Allen S. Bishop's book: "Ferrari Guide to Performance", he included a section written by Mark Dees on 308 performance modifications. The displacement angle between the cams (not physical, but timing-wise) is quite narrow and leads to an early closing of the intake valve. His suggestion is to retard the intake cam by using the dowel holes and cam pulley position (move it back one hole). This results in peak torque moved up a bit. |

I have a '81 308 gtsi(euro, completely stock). Comparing timing specs (16/48, 54/10) to carb version (30/50, 36/28 - less duration on the intake, less overlap)I was wandering if a delay on the exaust to make timing closer to carb would do any good to power/torque, since emissions are not a problem. What about a slight advance on the intake as well? I would like to know if anybody on the board tried/optimized this... |
