1978 GTS. No it's not correct for the year of the car but then neither are the 16" rims I am installing. I have always viewed the black vents on the front fenders as one of the most recognizable 'type specific' characteristics of the 308 (aside from the unmistakable profile)and was contemplating the switch to black. The nice thing about this change is that it IS reversible as is the wheel tire combo. I won't be getting rid of the 14's and will probably restore them. I forgot to mention to Lee that working your way down to finer grit sandpaper (400) is the way to get things smooth but you also have to pay attention to getting the straight pieces straight, the louvers evenly spaced, the flat areas flat by using a long board type sander or block sander. Smooth and wavy looks like doo-doo. Try talking to a body guy, they can save alot of heartbreak. I was told a long time ago that the dumbest question is the one you never ask and screw up the job anyway. DJ |

DJ, You don't mention what year your 308 is. Early cars had body colored louvres. QV's converted to black but not on Euro cars. Dave |

Did the same on my 308. Always thought, that the black pieces in the midst of the red front gave the car a cluttered look. Ferrari eventually came probably to the same conclusion: On the 328 the center grille is painted as well. |

Semi. Originally they were black anodized, but semi-gloss paint is an almost perfect match. |

While I have the paint gun out I thought I would paint the hot air louvers on top of the front fenders black. Gloss or semi-gloss? Thanks, DJ |
