Don's right. Remove the tire, remove a few screws and you can access it with both arms (just about). Easy, easy |

I noticed a few weeks back that my left-hand blower motor in the front of the car was no longer supported in its bracket. The outside mounting point, plastic, had broken off. I ended up drilling a hole into the blower unit, and attaching a metal bracket of sorts to act as a brace. For the record, it is possible to get *some* access to the blower fan through the louvres/slotted vents behind the respective headlamp, but this is tight. A better way is to remove the access panel in the front wheelwell. I had never done this until tonight--I thought I read somewhere somebody having a nightmare getting the screws back in or something. (Actually, the access panel has not been put back yet, but everything seemed to come out fine and there was no indication that this would be a fussy job.) Also, to get the blower unit itself out, I disconnected the hose from the unit itself. There was some glue and resistance. Later, when I put it back, I put a hose clamp firmly around it (just I had done with the hoses leading to the heater/filter boxes up top a ways). To actually pull the unit itself out of the car, it will have to rotate in a way where the white blade assembly that sucks air is pointed DOWN, with the motor pointed UP and slightly towards the inside of the car. This is, of course, not a natural orientation for the motor, but it was the only way I could get it out. If you have any questions about the blowers, let me know and I'll try to help.
