Dave: Glad to hear it sounds like you've solved the problem. Hey, 'operator error' is the easiest problem to correct. It takes no parts, no cash, and its a permanent fix! Congrats! Thanks for lettin' us know what it was. I was wondering if there was something else in the system that I hadn't thought of or addressed. Cool! (yes, pun intended)

Mark, I spent some time today messing with the air con, and I think the problem is "operator error"! I swapped around relays and figured out they are all fine, then I started messing with the air con controls and noticed the air blows cold if I turn the temp control further clockwise than my old 308 needed. I think I am an idiot... :-( Dave |

Lemme know if that solves your problem...Curious if there is something else in the system(A/C system) that could cause that.

David: I think its the compressor relay. I initially had the same problem, air would blow but didn't get cold for a bit(until I could hear the compressor kick in). Replaced the relay, compressor kicks on immediately, cool/cold air much quicker than before. Easy, cheap fix.

Thanks Marq, what is this relay for? The fan? or the compressor? Or?.... The fan works fine... Dave |

Hi Mr. Handa, Can't comment on the A/C relay itself but have a procedure on removing A/C fan switch & replacing pwoer transistor in MS-Word. Submitted to Rob for service section but he's a busy guy. Drop me a line at [email protected] & I'll email file to you.

Checked mine today, gets cold (well, as cold as it gets anyway) after 15-20 seconds. Why not just replace the relay if it seems to be 'sticking' or not coming on properly? Part# = Bosch 0332014113(listed in the Owner's Manual). Was only $8 at my local import parts store.

Here's a strange one. I thought my air con did not work; fan blows, but not cold. While stuck in traffic in Vancouver, BC last Sunday, I turned on the AC and after a couple minutes I hear a "click" and air con works fine. In fact, every few minutes I would hear this "click" from under my dash, like a relay or something....any way my air con works fine now....I'm wondering if my previous problem was that it took a few minutes for the air con to start working? |
