Thanks to all, I have remove and install the radio and its harness...after a whole sunday's work. Some how i still need to do the right connections to make it work. I have connected the radio the same way as the one that I have pulled out. Unfortunately, it does not work. Whats next??? the wiring is a mess as there were quite a few after market installations done and removed. Hard to tell which is the "battery" lead, which is the "accessory" lead, and none of the wire looks like the antenna plug....help.

Dave, You will need the removal tool to get the old stereo out of the existing cradle. These are usually a flat blade or pin type tool. Try a local car audio store to obtain them. Its been a long time since I done mine but from memory the cradle is bolted from the back (this nut/bolt needs to be removed) - There is plenty of room to get your hand round the back and have a feel for the nut/bolt that should be there. The cradles that are supplied these days with car stereos have the "tangs" that are bent out to fix the front of it to the opening in the centre console. These just need to be pulled back so that the cradle can pulled out Quite an easy job if I remember rightly! Good Luck Paul

Dav-I have never pulled the stereo out of mine, however I have taken apart the center console to many times to count. I don't think you neccessarily have to take apart the center console to replace the stereo, but it would make the installation easier and it is really simple to do. 1.Open the ashtray and remove both screws. 2.Unscrew and take off shift knob. 3.Take out both shift gate screws and remove. 4.The plastic that surrounds the gear shift and the heater control cluster should just pull out, giving you plenty of room to access the stereo. The removal and installation of the stereo itself should be pretty strait forward. You may also want to check the archives for any other prior posts on the subject. Good luck |

I want to replace the radio/CD in my 91-348. I really would like to do it myself but I have never done similar electronic equipment install before. Could someone help with info on: 1. How difficult it is for in-experienced person like myself ? How long will it take ? 2. How to remove the current radio (no special tools on hand. 3. Is removal of dash or center console required? Any helpful information is much appreciated./ Thanks
