I know I'm not the only TR owner who needs new rear tail light sockets. The heat over time tends to make them brittle, and the retainer tabs break off. Several sockets in my car were....duct taped into place....hardly proffessional in appearance and definately an insult to a Ferrari. Well I may have found a replacement. It's not like the originals, but from what I see it will work. The original socket has two retainer tabs located 180 degrees apart. Just about anything else on earth uses 3 tabs, so nothing will interchange. But I found some for GM cars made from '70 to '92 that sorta "clip" into place. They have the same diameter as the originals, and a good weather seal. See the pic - sorry not clearer but hopefully you can get the idea. The GM socket uses a kind of camming action, and as you twist the socket it will clip into place. This part is made by JT&T and is their part number 2580F. There are 12 tail light sockets on the TR, 2 of them are 3-wire, and the rest are 2-wire. But I think these can be made to work for all of them. Let me know your thoughts...Thanks. |
