Jeff, Did you have any problems aligning the test pipe? I couldn't seem to make a straight line between 3 points - pre-cat, test pipe, muffler section. If i install the test pipe to the pre-cat section first, it won't line up with the muffler section. The large donut washers are being used right now like joints of a robotic arm. Luckily, they are large enough to produce the angles i needed. Well, i think there is a slight leak, but you get the idea. btw, I installed a SS Stebro test pipe. It has a port for the oxygen sensor only, and I am not using the thermocoupler. James 328GTS

FWIW I just installed a factory Ansa test pipe on my 328, the engine sound is much deeper as well as even more of that great Ferrari race engine sound,as well as throttle response seems quicker I would reccommend it to anyone considering it My observations for installing: You just need to remove the cat, the mufflers swing away so no other parts need removal I only had one stuck bolt out of 6, it figures it would have been in the hardest area to cut out My bolts were in fair condition so I wanted to replace them, they are a 10mmx75 fine pitch with a small head, the bolts are longer and also have a special cut in them that makes them act as a locknut, the only place you will get them is a Ferrari parts supplier The donut gaskets that go in the pipe are also a very large size 2.75" and also only available from a Ferrari parts supplier, mine where in okay-good condition but you can put some High Temp RTV on the edges and reuse them and they will seal fine I had spent basically the whole day yesterday going to various custom muffler shops,Napa specialty bolt suppliers etc,to find these bolts and donuts,so save yourself so time and order them, I ended up reusing my nuts, all except the bad on and buying regular 70x 10 fine pitch bolts, they worked okay but @ 1.25 each I could have bought the correct ones thru Ferrari, which is what I will do, but since I did not want to wait for mail order I installed them anyway The factory test pipe has 2 bung holes, one is for the Lambada, the other was plugged with a bolt, since I did not want to remove my thermocouple it created a problem since finding a metric 12mm fine plug with a 8mm fine nipple seemed impossible So I ended up getting a 8mm x 1.0 tap and drill, I drilled out the threaded plug and tapped it with the 8x1.0 tap, I then drilled a hole thru a 8mm fine x 30 bolt large enough for the thermocouple to fit thru and cut the head off, then attached it to the tapped bolt and secured with a 8mm nut on the top of it, this way the thermocouple would attach to the test pipe |
