If it happens infrequently, not likely a problem. A little rich mixture ends up in an exhaust port when the engine is shut off, and the heat of the exhaust manifold likely sets it off. While mine has not done this, I have had it occur on other carbureted cars.

I test drove a 246 GT recently and it back-fired at the end of the drive just after the car was turned off. What is the cause of this and does this indicate a potential problem?

Thanks in advance,

Fernando
