Just thought I'd follow up here now that this has all been resolved. First of all, thanks to Jeff at ferrari.co.uk, who quoted me a price for the part. Apparently, the original is obsolete but a replacement is available for very little money. However, I was able to restore the threads. I used this amazing, cool tool called a "thread cutter," or more like a thread file. It's like a metal bar, about 1 foot long, that literally "files" threads into a bolt. It's like a die in concept, but flat. So, with some cutting oil and 20 minutes, I was able to restore the threads back to original. Voila, the lines went in like a champ!

Mike, Is the line so small and the bends so sharp that it can't be made up by a competent mechanic? I would try a restoration shop or repair shop that handles sports cars. The materials wouldn't run more than $10. If it took a half hour at astronomical labor rates that would be another $50. |

I was replacing the front calipers on my 78 308, and somehow I buggered up the threads on the s-shaped "hydraulic hard lines" that lead from the main brake line to the actual caliper. Here's a rough picture showing what it looks like:
Does anybody know where I could find these? My last resort is T. Rutlands--I cringe to think of what they'd charge. According to the parts manual, this is NOT an ATE part (unlike the caliper). It's called "Tubetto dal flessibile alle pinze," which probably means the line that goes from the soft thing to the hard thing. Ferrari p/n 106671. Alternatively, is there a way to repair the threads? It's just torn up at the very beginning and the bold can't get a good bite into the hole. Thanks in advance for your help... --Mike
