Steve:
I jumped the pink to pink/black and magic - the fog lights and indicator light went on - I'll call a few places tomorrow for the switch and thanks again for all your help!

Well if you're incredibly lucky, it might be something at the harness-to-switch connection so you can do a similar functional test at the switch harness connector itself just to be reconfirm:

Unplug the switch from its harness, ext. lights "on" (any mode), jumper pink to pink/black in the switch harness connector -- if:

fog lights "on" -- replace switch

fog light "off" -- re-check schematic for other potentially troublesome interconnections between the fuse/relay panel and the switch (but I'll assume that this isn't the case unless you bring this thread back).

Steve:
I went through you list and I think I'm left with replacing the switch -- thanks for your help!

Steve:
I've got the #1 scenario - no click on the switch, no inside indicator and no fog lights. I'll look over your diagram/suggestions and see what happens - thanks

Paul DeV -- Can you clarify your symptom a bit. Do you have:

#1. External Lights "on", push Fog Light Switch = Nothing (i.e., Fog Light Switch does not "click" its internal mechanism and Fog Lights do not come "on"), or

#2. External Lights "on", push Fog Light Switch = Fog Light Switch does "click" its internal mechanism, but Fog Lights do not come "on"?

There are a couple of things that you could check on the wires leaving the white horizontal connectors at the bottom of the fuse/relay panel:

A. With external lights "on" (any mode) there should be +12V on the large (1.5) pink wire in the 2nd from left position on the "x" (upper right) connector as shown below (the diagram is drawn as if you're standing at the front of the car looking directly at the fuse/relay panel).

B. The power from the Fog Light Switch to run both the Fog Lights and the Fog Light Indicator Lamp exit the fuse/relay panel via the 2nd from left position on the "k" (upper left) white connector in a large (1.5) pink/black wire to run the Fog Lights and a smaller (0.8) pink/black wire to run the Fog Light Indicator Lamp (which explains why if there's an upstream problem both will not work together) -- you might unplug this "k" connector (and the "x" connector for that matter) to make sure the male pin on the PWB and the female socket in the connector are not too frazzled in this pink/black position.

C. If "A" and "B" look good, then (with everything plugged back in) turn the external lights "on" and jumper the pink wire in the "x" connector to the pink/black wires in the "k" connector (but only briefly as this will be a fairly large current) -- if the fog lights and indicator lamp come "on" properly then, unfortunately, you've probably either got a bad switch or some other problem in that neighborhood requiring a switch-ectomy -- if they don't come on then you've got some other downstream wiring/bulb problem (but I'd guess that an unlikely result since you report the Fog Light Indicator Lamp also isn't working).

Happy hunting, let us know what you find A-B-C-wise, and we'll stagger on from there ...

The 2 buttons in the overhead (along with the dummy in the center) snap out. Get a flat blade screwdriver under the bottom edge behind the face (do the dummy first), and wedge them out from their sockets (use force, but with great care). Once out you will have limited access to the associated wiring.

The switch for the fog lights is in the overhead console on the roof of the car - the indicator light for the fog lights is in the center console under the dash - also hold the fuel gauge, clock, etc.

Paul, is this the green push button for the park lights in the center console? It almost sounds like the connector has came off the switch. You may try and remove the console glove box and the small package tray the try and reach forward to feel if there is still a connection. Maybe also confirm that there is really power at the fuse panel too.

Is this the switch in the overhead console? IIRC they may have moved some of the switches around between years.

Suddenly the fog lights don't work and the indicator light in the center console is out. The fuse is OK but I can't figure out how to get to the switch. Any suggestions about the switch or other solutions?
