ok cheers guy's, i'll not worry about it for now. If it starts to get on my nerves i'll have the mechanic to look at it.

My 308 does the EXACT same thing, initially thought uh oh big problem, tearing away at my FRONT rotors. Took them apart everything ok, now 3 years later I "learned" to live with the "Italian" quirk> still love the car!

Darren, unless the sound is driving you crazy, you can ignore it, or use commonly available "stop squeel" goo on the back of the pads.

You have nothing to worry about other than a nagging noise.

You should check the rear too, also look at and adjust the parking brake located internal to the rear brake rotor. If you've ever maintained drum brakes, this will be easy.

Ps, the wear sensors, if still connected, will trigger an indicator light on your dash.

I took all 4 pads out and they arn't near the wear indicators. I didn't see anything in the calipers when i had the pads out, i'm begining to wonder if the sound is comming from the back? Though i think i can feel the grinding from the front.

Do your brake pads have "wear indicators" that may be scraping the rotors? There can still be pad remaining but the indicators will make a noise once they start to contact the rotors, to warn you that pads are needed soon. Have you checked all four front pads, or just one side? Be sure you check them all, front and rear.

You may have a rock stuck in one of the calipers.

It only happens on light breaking as i come to a stop, on heavy or faster breaking it seems to be ok?

Might be a wheel bearing. When you jack the car up and spin the wheel does it spin freely? Is it from one wheel or both?

Hi, i'm getting a kind of metal on metal grinding sound from the front brakes on my 348, like if there was not pad left. I've taken the pads out and they seem fine, has anyone got any ideas on this?

thanks Darren.
