Thanks for the input, but I didn't mention this in my posts. I have a K jetronic fuel distributor, the two vacum lines have been replaced on the WU regulator, the plenum to the charcoal canister, the vacum line to the ignition is good still (I checked it), also I'm not one to hold the horse back, I do open her up. ANY ideas are welcome |

Michael; On my current post titled Italian Tuneups, Steve Chong posted the following: (Please review his last sentence, it may help you): If you check the archives, I posted a ways back a warm-start issue on my 85 QV. Just last week, the local Bay area FChat guys got together for a canyon run thru Halfmoon Bay and Devils Slide. There were plenty of opportunities to let the horses run and I for the first time, opened it up a little. Guess what? No more warm-start issue. I'm going to try and wind it out at least once every time out. |

While there are more expert than me, here's an initial response. I assume if it is a 1980 that it has the early Bosch K-jetronic (i.e., no lambda). One of the most common weaknesses of this system which may give you these symptoms is an air leak somewhere downstream of the flow sensor plate. Of course there are many places - brake vacuum line, ignition advance vacuum line, and the vacuum line that goes to the warm up regulator(high possibility), the main duct to the throttle body. other assorted vacuum lines among others. This would be my first bet. There are ways to check for leaks - would suggest a thread search. Of course replacing vacuum lines on a 23 year old car might not be a bad (nor expensive) idea anyway. I would have suggested the WUR as a possibility, but you said you replaced that. You did not mention if it ran well or not - if you are also down on power the fuel pressure could be a player. It sounds like you are getting spark, so ignition seems less likely. Of course these could be all wrong. Hope this helps start things off, best rt |

Is it possible that your choke cable isn't altering the choke position? |

my car recently began experiencing a problem during cold start up. previously when cold it would idle up to about 1500 rpm then when it reached running temperature it would idle down. Now when I start it it barely idles and I have to keep my foot on the gas to hold the idle while it's warming up. It was suggested that the warm up regulator was bad, I replaced it and it ran worse. Then I was told to replace the air bleed valve for the fast idle speed (the valve near the thermostat) did that and put my old warm up regulator back on, still not like it use to be. Any suggestions??/ |
