Thank You Glenn...much appreciated. I'll do your exhaust but I charge two weeks free driving priveledges plus a high-class dinner. Ben, you may be right about the durability of the finish. This paint is supposedly very close to ceramic coating, but time will tell. When I was removing them from the hangers I dropped one of the precats on the concrete floor. I figured it would chip or scratch it, but to my surprise it didn't make a mark at all. I tapped on them with a screw driver, and even a hammer, just to see...no marks! Now I didn't use big-time force either. But so far I have high hopes...I'll post if this stuff is over-rated. |

Jeff - Looks like great work! My one comment, if you don't mind me saying, I'm not sure the 1200deg stuff will hold up, I tried some before on an area of TR exhaust - came right off after a few drives. Altho I didn't bake my application. Hope yours holds up better, it's quite pretty now. -Ben |

Hello Henryk...I guess maybe some day we can splurge on an aftermarket muffler. Till then I'll make do with what I have. I'm still toying with the idea to use two aftermarket C5 Corvette mufflers, they seem so close to the right shape. I was surprised at how light the precats and cats are without any guts. That darn factory muffler is a real pig though. And Thank You to YOU and to NEAL for the compliments. |

Jeff: That looks very nice. I am making straight pipes to replace the cats. I have gutted the pre-cats. I'm trying to weld the muffler back together. Too complex inside to modify. |

Everyone may recall Henryk is modifying his TR exhaust a step at a time until he gets it just right. I had ORIGINALLY planned to have custom pipes made to replace precats & cats. I left my whole system at a buddies muffler shop to him to work on. Well, he called me and said there was a problem with my factory exhaust and I'd better take a look. As it turns out, my precats and cats have been gutted! When I removed the system I never really looked closely! The previous owner never said anything about this so he will hear from me tonight! Anyway the job was done very well as they are totally hollow. So I told my buddy to forget the pipes. I decided to keep the original set-up and just refinish everything for a nice appearance. I bead blasted everything so it was nice and clean. Then used some 1200 degree paint that is claimed to be very near to ceramic coating if applied correctly. I put on two coats, and then baked the pieces for 2 hours at 300F. It turned out TERRIFIC! The finish looks great, seems very durable, much better than I expected. Now I don't have to hang my head in shame. Opinions?
