Doug, I used bicycle cable housing with great success. They have a teflon lining which makes the action butter-smooth. Measure your cable/wire first, then select the suitable housing (brake and shifter housings come in many I.D.'s). |

My valve control to switch from AC to heat on my 512bb does not work correctly(can't get heat). Went under the car and noticed that the shroud or cover around the cable that goes from the lever to the hot water valve has a split. When I move the lever to the "warm" position, it pushes the cable, but instead if pushing open the valve, it simply pushes the extra cable out at the split. Thus, it does not open the valve for hot air. Before I source out a new cable, are there any engineering types that have an idea for a fix. It seems so simple, but I couldn't figure one out. The split in the shroud is in front of the firewall ans about an inch from the hole in which it passes. I guess I am looking for a way to re-attach the shroud at the split without interfereing with the movement of the cable inside. If there is no such fix, anyone know of a source for these cables, or could you use same sized bicycle cables? |
