Sorry for the off topic post. Yeah, I'm waiting "patiently" for our new E55. Dyno day is April 10, and the car is supposed to be finished by tax day. (hah!). Should be here first week in May. Thanks for confirming my beliefs; I've even called MB USA, and their tech support was kinda like asking a kindergarten kid about the motor's brake mean effective pressure; "Er, yeah, sure!!"

DUH! Back to regularly scheduled programming. Ooops. Am I suffering from "assume it's all Ferrari" on FC?

Should we toss the OT flag?

Efwun: sounds good. You'll get an award for self control if you follow this advice, which is excellent. 800 miles sounds great.

(BTW, I'm assuming you just rebuilt your F355, not found a "new" one with factory-only miles). Last really new F355 I broke in we did it with six hours at the racetrack taking it easy for two, getting progressively faster, then hammer down for the last four hours (not continuous driving).

Does anyone, Rob Schemerhorn, etc., have any good advice on breaking in the motor in our new E55? I've always varied the revs (no full throttle) from idle to 1/2 redline, then advanced the revs step wise after about 200miles at each level, finally reaching full tilt boogie and redline when I figure the rings have seated at about 800miles
I know the E55 motors get dynoed before installation (as do the 550s). I know racing motors with large piston to wall clearances need very little break in, but this is a road motor with narrow clearances. Ideas?
