Well the hunt is over. Sherwin Williams still makes laquer and they will mix me up a custom match pint for $30CDN (about $20USD). I hope this info can be of help to someone else. |

there are a couple of guys in Hemmings that will custom mix lacquer and put it in a rattle can for you...I'll have to dig out the name...seems that most of the Autobody supply shops in the US have stopped stocking Lacquer due to the high solvents...I have similiar situation with my 78 308 and would like to use lacquer for its forgiving qualities and ease of use. |

My car will receive a re-paint next year and is currently all lacquer so the best way to match an area that is being blown in is to use lacquer. Touching up rock chips or small scratches is different however in this case it is a small area that would best match the surrounding paint by using the same type of paint so my search for some laquer (preferably pre-mixed) continues. |

I can say that the Honda Motorcycles have a touch up paint called Italian Red......it is a dead ringer for the "ferrari red"......very accessable and cheap.......I've used it for touch ups and once dry, nearly invisible. |

I've airbrushed models in the past. Anybody know what model paint colors are a decent match for Rosso Corsa? Or what blend? |

An art supply store or hobby shop should have some laquer based paints available as well as any airbrush supplies you may need. I talked to my paint store about airbrushing rock dings on my car and they suggested acrylic urethane because of its elastic properties and resistance to chipping. Almost ready to start shooting. Hope this helps, DJ |

I want to blow in a small imperfection on the 308 and am looking for some lacquer paint to do it with. The car is original and lacquer is very good for blowing in areas because it buffs very well. Does anyone know where I can find some Ferrari red in lacquer? If anyone out there has some, all I need is maybe 100ml to put into my airbrush; and I will of course pay for any shipping. Any help would be appreciated. |
