Yes, a 1980 308 US model did come with a smog pump mounted in the location that you described. I believe that smog pumps were put on the US model Ferraris starting about 1971. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. 1976 and 1977 model 308's actually had 2 pumps, one for each bank.

Pardon my ignorance, but did a 1980 model 308 have a smog pump on the engine? I don't have alot of underhood pictures of original 308 engines, but I was comparing some photos of a 308 engine that I got by e-mail with some photos in a book. Standing behind the car with the engine cover lifted, there looks to be a pump apparatus on the driver's side toward the back. Is that the smog pump? And what was the first year for that pump? My e-mail photos do NOT have this apparatus on this particular car. Makes me wonder if something is missing.
