They are drainage holes. There is supposed to be a rubber drip tube installed, otherwise driving in the wet will actually cause water to enter the holes. |

I recently had my '77 308GTB completely repainted, and was doing some cleanup in the rear trunk area. The 2 recessed areas of the trunk (one behind each rear wheel) have 2 holes each that are hidden underneath the carpet panel. My car has no screw, bolt, etc in either of these holes. I wouldn't think they would be for drainage, since the carpet panels would be soaked long before these holes would provide drainage relief. I can see some sort of impression in the panel that appears a screw or washer of some type was there at some point in time. Does anyone have any idea as to the purpose of these holes? Should I fill them in? Any thoughts/comments greatly appreciated....thanks....... |
