Sounds like the "auxilary air valve" (what Michael is describing), but agree with Steve M, before swapping parts, best to make sure of what the problem is. |

Ken -- Why not just use a timing light to first determine if it's an ignition problem or not (i.e. an injection problem)? |

Ken, My 80 2 valve recently started doing the same, see my post under cold start up. I recently replaced the fast idle valve (its called alot of different things) or air bleed valve for fast idle speed. Its located by the thermostat (I don't have my spare parts catalogue in front of me to tell you which part #) but as far as I can tell this may have solved my problem. I need to get it back from the shop before I'm certain, but you may want to try that, also keep me posted it sounds like we're both pursuing the same gremlin. |

My 308QV has recently developed a problem. For the first 10-15 minutes after starting the car the idle is 500 RPM. During this time, the engine sounds like it is running on one bank and the exhaust note sounds like crap. After 10-15 minutes, the idle returns to 1,000 rpm and the car runs fine. This has happen for the last 3 times I have driven the car. What is causing this problem? Is this a bad coil on the way out or something else? |
