They've just responded with a request for a shipping address. Pretty quick!

David, thanks for the tip! Just ordered the 348 filter and service kit. Nice price. I hear it's a nice little improvement for the 348. I'll find out soon.

I just ordered from Trev at NeedForSpeed my TR K&N filter, He was great and the price was not bad ($74 US) with shipping. If I timed it better I would have picked it up from him and saved $20, but why wait.

Bill -

Regarding K&N for Testarossa (not the dual air filter 512TR/M) - they do make one and it's only available in Europe, we did a group buy on them awhile ago, but don't have any left...

http://209.196.179.161/discus/messages/11/990.html?

I got them from the UK - end result cost about $60 each with an order of several, saved up a bit on shipping, expect to pay about $80 for ONE. Just have that K&N part number handy.

contact: [email protected]

if you don't get anywhere with them let me know (that's where I got mine)...let us know if you notice a difference.

Does anyone know if they make one for the TR?
I haven't been able to find one anywhere.

Please check the link I posted for good prices on K&N as well. Someone is amazed that Kragen sells the 348 K&N for $48 (though they paid $58), well how does $37.30 sound? www.performanceintl.com

No affiliation, but I bought two from them, along with the service kit.

Heath -- if you haven't already -- see Dave H.'s 23 Aug message below and check the K&N application list on the NW region FClub site.

Unless you are sprint racing your Ferrari on a dirt track your I would not be worried about any filtration problems, the bottom line is that they DO NOT VOID ANY OEM WARRENTY and they do increase the performance of the car,and they are re- useable!Just have one flow benched and do a comparison for yourself. After all didn't we by these cars for performance? Why don't we all just by Rolls Royces if performance is not a issue? Nick Scianna.. K & N dealer & Personal User on my own Ferrari's and customers Ferrari's also!

No, this is only on later model cars. Ferrari uses them but I do not know what year or models that first had them. I personally am not sold on the performance air filter craze. Lower restriction means less filtration. Would you use a lower restriction OIL filter that gave more power but filtered less? I doubt it. The miniscule power gain of a performance filter is not worth the potential cost in premature wear. I have a stock filter in my car and always will.

Herbert, I don't want to sound ignorant but does my (stock) 1980 GTSi have this "hot wire mass airflow meter"? Becuase I am about to order a K&N filter for the car. Thank you

If any of you are using a K&N filter on cars with the hot wire Mass airflow meters please be advised that many other car owners with this type of system are having failures due to the fact that the oil that traps the dirt is being sucked into the intake and is collecting on the wire in the sensor and either ruining it or causing driveability problems.

While we're on this subject, do you other 328 owners have the solid black air cleaner cover? Some of the 308 pics I've seen have one that say "Ferrari" on them, and I like that style much better. Are they interchangeable? Does anybody have a source for the ones w/ "Ferrari" printed on them?

You can order from Kragen online for $48, I was shocked!

I stopped by Kragen and ordered at the store. They charged me $58 but had it the next day.

Try www.performanceintl.com they have good prices. Note that their (acutally K&N's) reference guide is both incomplete and outright wrong on some models. To get the right part number go to www.ferrariclub.com and check the FAQ section on K&N filters.

Any sources with a toll free number, where I can order it from home?

You can get them at PEPBoys. I bought mine from TrickTrucks in Maryland for around $60 (I think).

I can't think of a better way to spend $50 to improve the sound than the K&N filter! So what if I can't feel the difference, I can sure "hear" the difference!

It will be the best $50 you ever spent on your ferrari!

I have personally flowbench tested the stock 308 element VS the K&N.... K&N flowed 40% more. More airflow, more power,Period.

I did not get any noticable improvements in performance in switching to K&N, but the induction sound it produces sure beats the OEM filters!

I got my K&N just based on the fact it's re-usable. Wash it, re-oil, and slap it back in. One time cost.

I don't care if it gains/loses a couple of HP. I won't notice by-the-seat-of-my-pants.

Just to play devil's advocate here....a recent note in the other Ferrari community discussed just this and the lack of truth in the marketing/performance of these filters, not that I would immediately remove mine...there was quite a bit of scientific testing to back up the claims that K&N wasn't as good as it is promoted. Since I don't want to cut and paste the post, contact me directly and I'll forward you over a copy.

Well, the theory is that you let more air in, but no more dirt. There are many things on cars that can be designed better, but aren't because of cost and resistance to change.

I've read in several discussions how a K&N filter will increase performance. Something to do with more air intake.

Logic dictates, that, if more air is allowed to be drawn in, it has to be at the expense of less filtering.....thus more dirt going into the engine.

What gives?
