It could be running to rich?

Rich running at idle causes a surge to the low side when the clutch is depressed and throttle released.

The best, and easiest way to diagnois these types of problems is by gathering some data..in this case CO & HC numbers would be real helpful.

Sorry, forgot to mention, I have an '85' 308 GTS QV. It's embarrasing when I come to a light and the engine dies and I have to restart it.

Every now and then, maybe 2 or 3 times in 30 minutes of stop and go driving, the engine will die. Any ideas on what could be wrong?
