Steve - Thanks very much! I think I'm going with option #2 as it seems to give the best look and feel without any mods. My only decision now is to pick a brand of tire! I love, after having only one choice for the metric size, having a wide variety of brands and types to choose from! Pirelli, Yokohama, Michelin....oh my!

Stu C. -- since you asked for opinions, I think you have three options:

Option #1

205/55-16 front
225/50-16 rear

which is the "stock" 308QV 16" setup -- but the rears look a little too "small" IMHO (too much of a gap between the tire OD and the coachwork).

Option #2

205/55-16 front
225/55-16 rear

which was my personal ex-308 street choice as the slightly larger rear "fills" the rear wheel opening better and gives a tad more forward rake to the chassis.

Option #3

225/50/16 front
245/50/16 rear

which is the probably the best for all-out "track performance", but the slow speed steering effort will be increased and clearance may or may not be an issue (so please check beforehand -- I know on my ex-308 I would have had to "tweak" the rear fender liners to get clearance for extra width of the 245s).

I saw Joon's ad on FL as well, however anyone interested should know that right now superformance has those exact wheels on sale for about $1,400 which INCLUDES shipping! A great buy - in my opinion. So much so, I ordered them!
Now, which tire to get......opinions?

Non-subscribers? I've subscribed, but I copied the link manualy and it didn't take. I tried cut-and-pasting it here in that message and all I got was that junk.

Peter R. -- the FList site doesn't seem to let us lowly non-subscribers open up messages -- the direct link to those (reproduction) QV wheels Joon Kim has for sale is:

Glenn,
Congrat's on your purchase. I have a 75 GT/4 and have a set of 17" wheels with Yokohama AVS sport
tires. Will double check if you like but I remember the size to be 17x7 Front and 17x8 Rear
Wheels and the tire size's are rear 235/40-17 and front 220/45-17. There are no fitment problems and the cars handeling is great and looks better in my opinion. You will want to make sure of the wheel offset before you buy. You can check it out under my user profile but if you need any further info drop me a line.

Hello Glenn! I remember seeing that car in Seattle at one of the shows. Yes, immaculate shape.

The 16" wheels that are mentioned can either be original, or reproduction Ferrari pentastar Speedlines. They are 7 X 16 front and 8 X 16" rear. A few sets go on sale on Ebay, but you can purchase repros at Superformance in England.

For my car, I'm keeping my 14" wheels and fitting Pirelli P4000 205/70HR-14 (good for 130mph).

I recently purchased a 1975 308 GT4 (S/N 10280) with only 13,500 miles. The car is in excellent condition, and has all its service records and has been well maintained. The tires are original spec (Michelin 205-70-VR14 XWX's)and in good condition, however, I am seeking fitment information as to what size wheel and tire combination I could move up to, without overly compromising the current ride and handling charachteristics. A few GT4 owners have mentioned moving up to a 16" wheel, but without much detail to actual size and tire selection. Any information is much appreciated.
