Hi Adam.

I also have an 86 TR. As far as the windows go WD-40 is not really a proper lubricant. The pulleys will need grease or graphite. If you want, I'll send you an exploded diagram from my TR parts book that will show you how the console & doors come apart.
I'd advise that you track down any drain on the battery since they stress the alternator, and that's one item you really don't want to have to mess with. I took my TR to an alternator repair shop - they tested the charging & electrical systems for free after I had to have my alternator rebuilt by them.
A MAJOR pain removing that component!
I have a maintenance free battery, as well.
I hope someone can respond to your belt squeal question. -I'd like to know as well

I recently purchased an 86 TR with 15K on the clock and have a few question. My right hand window is a bit slow on the up side and will occasionally not top out. I was looking in the service manual and realized that there must be a dozen pulleys that the belt runs through. Is it worth removing the door panel and lubing the pulleys with WD40. If so how does the panel come off.

I also have a concern with a slight belt squeal when the car is warm, AC on and you give the Acc pedal a quick brap it will squeal at about 2000 RPM for a sec. Does anyone know which belt and a quick remedy. At all other times the motor is silent ( except for the great roar ).

I have also found that the Cig lighter only works with the engine off and does not work when the engine is on. I have put in a separate one for the radar detector, but with the car parked and the engine off, the Cig lighter light ring is on and I do not want to drain the battery. The rest of that circuit ( overhead lights ) work properly. If need be I will pull the plug on the lighter, but it would be nice to fix. If so how does one remove the center console cover.

The last concern is a very faint battery light that never changes brightness, and the system seams to have good voltage, but is it a bad sensor, or something to worry about. (BTW I have a trickle charger from my Harley, has anyone had good luck with using one with a NON maintenance free battery) Did anyone change to a maintenance free battery.
