A quick read of your owner's manual reflects the correct proceduure: Let carbs fill up, listening to pump racket. Press throttle pedal three or four times, then let off. Crank motor. When fired, hold rpms above two grand (manual actually says four) to avoid fouling plugs, until water temp rises. Go drive gently, until oil temp rises. Then go fast. At least I think that's what it said. Note: No mention of choke operation, I think it's for customers in the VERY far north, my car sold new in Canada. |

Peter, I've found that I only resort to the choke with temperatures below 20 degrees F. If you don't drive your car in such cold weather, you won't need your choke operational. I agree with '75 308 GT4 (Peter) that you should just leave your nonfunctional original choke lever in place. It will look more like itself than the dummy lever. Barry |

Pete, the only thing you should choke is your chicken. Matt |

If you never used it and never needed, what makes you think you're gonna need it now? Just put in the dummy lever for aesthetic reasons. Henry |

How cold does it get where you are and if it gets that cold, do you take the Ferrari out? I've had no problems starting my car, without using the choke, in temps in the 30°F range... Why not just leave the lever in the console and remove the cable from it? |

While replacing my vent levers (all were broken), I found that the choke lever was quite different from the other three! Since this one was broken when I bought the car and never had any problem in starting the car, do I really need this lever? I can install a 'dummy' lever in its place to complete the set of four. |
