I have spent hours trying to get my 1986 mondail to idle smooth. It would start great but when it got up to running temp the idle would surge ,it would jump up about 1 to 2 hundred rpms ,stay there for a second or two then go back to where it was,then repeat this cycle over and over as long as the car was running.I looked through ''ferrarichat'' and found manny people with this problem and one guy was told that 308 s with this injection will do this it is the way the computer moniters its self...I found my cars problem today and my car idles rock solid now.The thermo switch on the bottem of the expantion tank is not working .when the car warms up this switch should close sending amessage to the ecu witch then retards the timming for normal running ..If the switch stays open the timming stays on cold start mode and after the car warms up the computer trys to correct it but it defaults back to the advanced setting giving a surging idle |
