Ben: Everybody has to decide this for him/herself. Why is a Z rated not higher rated? I rather save my money somewhere else. Christian |

ChristanK - Z rating is maintaining speed OVER 149, NOT up to 149, FYI and is the same rating that is used on MANY other high speed cars. V rating is UP to 149mph. |

The TRX wheels were used on the first series TR. The second series already used the SAME size as the 5 lug bolts but as knock off wheel. Not many people know that but apparently Adam and I do have those rims on our cars. That means we have single nut rims and 225/50-16 and 255/50-16 tires. The Firestone are only ZR rated which means that they are save up to 149 mph. I have a European TR which goes up to 190 mph, so that's not an option for me. The Michelin Pilot Sport is the only tire which is save for the TR under all conditions. |

Anyone have experience with Yokohama A032 for TRs? I live in Southern California so weather is not an issue. Will they last for 4000-5000 miles with spirited driving? With my level of use that would equal 3-4 years of driving and they're reasonably inexpensive (and available in both 225 and 255) |

On TRX you only have 2 choices Coker and Avon if I'm not mistaken. For those of us with 5 bolt 225/50/16 front, 255/50/16 rear stock sizes when I looked in May'01 there were the following choices: Michelin Pilot Sport Michelin Pilot SX MXX3 Michelin Pilot XGT Z4 Dunlop SP Sport 8000 Goodyear Eagle HP Ultra Plus Bridgestone Potenza RE940 Firestone Firehawk SZ50EP and a few other lesser known brands as well.. Hard to find a tire make/model offered in both of the needed sizes. Pirelli no longer offers our size setup. I chose the SZ50EP since I was told by MANY dealers/users that the Pilot sports were the best tire BUT they are only %10 better than the SZ50 (which is replacement for current Vette) at %50 more money. I had the XGT on before and they were just too hard (old maybe), I can't believe the difference. The SZ50's are wonderful and quiet. just my $0.02 -Ben |

I run Michelin Pilot Sport. I also had them on my modified BMW 750. They are better than anything else but also the most expensive ones, I think about USD 180 each at tirerack. If you don't mind, go for them. They are also the only one made for 185 mph top speed. I would never buy the Goodyear, I had both Dunlop SP 8000 and 9000 on my BMW 750 and 540 and they are good when new and look sharp but follow any groove in the road when worn a little bit. Hope that helps, Christian |

The Fronts are 225/50/16 the rears are 255/50/16. There are only a few tires made in sets in both sizes, and the best are the ones I listed. This is the problem with the center knock-off wheels. But I still love the look. |

Are these for the TRX on non-TRX tires? Basically what SIZE are your tires? -Ben |

I currently run Mich Pilot SX, but I am in need of some fresh sneakers. The other three makes that have the correct size are Mich Pilot Sport, Dunlop SP Sport 8000, and the Goodyear Eagle HP Ultra Plus. What has everone else found to be great with this limited size / selection. |
