I just did the belts on a Mondial T. Pics can be seen at: http://mywebpages.comcast.net/k3mpg/Mondial/ Random order....easy job....with a lift. Can be done without a lift, just take your time. Removing the gas tank would be futile on the Mondial since it would not give you full access....not to mention that you would have to have some really really small hands to reach into some of the places ...shoot me an email if you want more specifics. In one of the pics, you can see my "poor man's dolly" for the engine. Works fine ;) Mike |

It will drop down with rear suspension...with a bit of modification, a small dolly will serve as the third point along with the rear wheels leaving you with a mobile engine.

Does the enging have to come out from the bottom removing the entire cradle and seperating the rear suspension? Or can you pull it from the top (since I don't have a lift - that rules out dropping it out the bottom). Or I could add the price of a lift to the car |

Bill: Keep the 3.2. It is a much better car even though the T has more power. The 3.2 is also much cheaper to maintain which is an added bonus. |

Bill, I know the cam belt on a 348 can be changed with the engine in the car by removing the fuel tanks. I assume the Mondial-T can be done that way too. However, it is not recommended because you can't change the cam seals and tensioner bearings too. In a tensioner bearing fails it can break even a new cam belt. The cam belt on my ex-348 was changed that way by Shelton in June 2000 and I had leaking cam seals by Jan 2002. So, bite the bullet and have the whole service done if you buy one. |

Bill, The t model has the same engine as the 348! The 348 definitely needs an engine out service to change the belts. Bad news, I guess but on the other hand you have some extra power over your 3.2 Con saluti cordialissimi, Jens Haller |

generally they engine must come out, I think some have figured some convoluted way to do it in but most take it out |

I put my mondial on ebay because I think I want to get a T rather than the 3.2 I currently have. However, can the timing belts on a T be changed w/o removing the engine? I have heard not... |
