The throttle cable should be a little slack. Hard to describe. What it shouldn't be is tight. Should be a little wiggly.

Cables stretch. Back in my bicycling days, after installing new cables on brakes and/or derailleurs, you'd pre-stretch cables by pulling the hell out of them. Then re-adjust. It'd work for thousands of miles after that.

Yes, there is an adjustment-barrel at the linkage of the gas pedal. Should be accessible from underneath the car, by a small, pop-riveted-on (or screwed-on) cover.

I never changed my cable.

I tried to adjust my throttle cable to take up the extra slack. It was adjusted all of the way at engine. Is there another adjustment by the gas pedal inside the car? I am hoping that it is not stretched out? How difficult is the change if it is neccessary?
