See the 5th paragraph on Page 2. It indicates that the replacement will be free of charge. Your car does not still need to be covered under warranty for them to do these repairs for free. This is standard for such safety recalls. It only needs to fall within the class of cars which is subject to the recall. It is my understanding that it applies to all US Testarossas, 512TRs and 512Ms. Look at the VIN numbers listed on page 1 and see if you car falls within this list. If you have a question contact your favorite Ferrari dealer. I do not know if it would include any Euro TR which has been federalized.

I assume this is a world-wide recall. Anyone have a mirror for the pdf ? (if lots of people need this I can mirror it if someone sends it to me)

I don't believe that my dealer (Scottsdale Ferrari) will be doing anything for me as I am in a war with them after they screwed up a major on my TR...that ended up costing me $8000 extra, after they soaked me for $5400. Don't use Scottsdale Ferrari!!!!

are there any other known recalls for the 512TR? I've heard mention of a fuel line recall/replacement.

would it apply to a F512M?

Im looking at one at a dealer, if I am lucky enough to get it, I might as well have any recall issues addressed since the nearest dealer is 2 hrs away.

Dino,

Yes, I have the recall notice in hand -- it does apply to 1987 TR.

I just got my TR back from FCFla this afternoon with the replacement seat belts. This is a significant improvement over the old system. The new system is made by Honeywell and the shoulder belts are date stamped (mine are February 2003). You will be getting all new belts, including the lap belt, all new motors and computers for both sides, new motors for the center console that slowly ease out slack on the belt when it gets to the corners (instead of the old way of pulling against a spring). In short, this seems to be a high quality fix.

Dave,
Thanks, I just notified two friends with 512TR's and they are now scheduled for repairs...and I imagine hunting for their past receipts for reimbursement. :-)

BTW, doesn't that seem like a huge bunch of TRs around here - I never see one (except for mine;)).

Ferrari of Orange County said they got 48 in yesterday - I don't know if that's 48 pieces or 48 sets, but the service dept. wants them installed and out of the way ASAP (the first one was being done today)

I received my notice 4/28. Letter states parts should be available at auth. service centers by now. Replacement should take 6.5 hours but request vehicle made available for scheduling.

has anyone actually received one of these recall notices from fna? or, even better, inquired at the local dealership as to what time frame they estimate to complete these repairs?

I test drove a 512TR about 5 weeks ago and this car had that problem. Good to see there is a factory recall on this.

Thanks Dave for posting this. It figures...I just converted my TR to "normal" type seat belts. I'm sure this would NOT be covered in the program. I did save all the old parts, but am probably poop out of luck.
