I have the exact same problem on my 308. In fact my play was so bad that on tight corners the diff flange were the drive axel bolts up, would contact the side of the trans case!! I have since located a used diff out of a smashed(front end wright off) 308 with only 30k. Some play in the diff is normal(they all seem to have this even right on up to the 355) but I guess over the years it becomes a problem. Good luck!!

My thoughts are that you are simply feeling the normal play in the diff spider gears. Bad 308 diffs although not unheard of, are quite rare.

I agree with you that pushing the CV flanges is
not a test for checking the diffs. But my Question is only if axial end play from the splined shafts incl. the CV flanges is ok.I am not sure if I have a problem with the diffs because I bought my 308 5 mounths ago and drove only 300 km with the car. So what is your opinion:
move on or dismantle the diffs.?

Pushing & Pulling on the CV Flanges is not the test & check procedure for the diffs.

After removing the engine of my 308 GTS for some
maintenance I notice that I have some axial movement on both CV flange (about 0.8 mm each)at the differential side. The diff. carrier bearing pre-load are "in specs."I think (without any free play.)Is this Movement normal or not? If not could somebody give me tip to solve this problem.
