at the vmax run yesterday, i found that the car reached some incredibly high coolant temps (oil temps were high but stayed on the low side of halfway), without the fans switching on. the gauge showed temps approaching 120 and still no fans, whereas they normally kick in when the gauge hits 90-95, then switch back off when it get back to 80-85. then after the run, when i was back in london and sitting in traffic, they came on right on cue around 95 and did their normal thing. is there some kind of program that reviews recent airflow (ie on the runs the incoming air was keeping everything in check), vs little airflow so that it knows the fans need to come on? how did the car know that sitting in traffic the fans were needed but sitting in between 180mph runs it didn't need to come on? or is something wrong with my car and i just got lucky?
