Thanks for the contribution!
Talked to my mechanic and he said its most probably a fault with the mass connection that causes the strange readings. He siad I shouldnt worry too much as long as I control the oil level continously and warm up the engine carefully like I do now.
He said that its just a minor error he can easily fix the next time I show up!
Nevertheless I will observe the readings although never such problem occured when I filled up some oil!

Philip,
What about your oil pressure gauge? Could you solve the problem? Hope it was something minor!

Dave,
Racing days in Spa were very wet, both days lots of rain but I could sneak in on the track with my 348 for 0!
Not bad to drive Spa at two days without paying anything but for a hotdog and a coke :-)
Even in the wet the fun there is immense. Love to race up Eau Rouge :-)

Jens,
I also have some "wierd stuff" with my oil temp gauge....I would attribute yours to the new oil....perhaps once it get a little older it will heat up differently and will pump through differently, thus changing the pressure...there is a thread on here that after an oil change or fill up, the temp and pressure are very different than before.....

Jens, at least you have a gauge reading, mine is still nothing at all (haven't carried out the earth to tank wire mod yet!). In your case sounds like the sender

BTW how was the racing day?

This saturday I departed from Bonn to Spa for the Ferrari Racing Days with my 348tb.
Before I went for the trip I checked the tire pressure and the oil level. I found out on friday that the oil level was already at min after having used the usual procedure for that recommended in the owners manual.
So I filled up one liter of Shell 0W-40 which is far better than the recommended Agip oil. Never had any problems with that.

No problems till here but then I started the car and drove on. I usually warm up the engine with constant 3000-4000 revs at the highway and then the oil temperature rises to 100 degrees celsius which is exactly the middle of the gauge. This is normal and varies a bit due to the speed and revs I do. Sometimes its a bit lower sometimes a bit higher.
This time the gauge wouldnt go over 80 degrees celsius which is just one quarter of the gauge even after driving for 30 minutes.
When I do low revs it even drops to nearly 60 degrees celsius which is nearly cold.

I am very confused and after some testing I found out that it is like the sensor is showing exactly half of the true gauge reading since minimum is 60, normal is 100 with now always reading 80 (=exactly in between 60 to 100).

Hope you understood the problem and can help me.
IMO it must be something wrong with the sensor since it cant be possible that the engine doesnt warm up anymore properly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Jens Haller
