The clamping force was increased from the 2v 308 spec PP's with the 4v car PP's...so the problem was adressed years and years ago. The right & best PP for all the 3 series cars is the late factory clutch kits. |

I know that Daytona clutches were routinely used in early 308's with the thinking they would last longer. I had a 77 so equipped and can testify it was tough on the left leg in traffic. It was later discovered the stiffer clutch would quickly wear out throw out bearings and later clutches do seem to last longer (perhaps an upgrade?) so I don't think many people put them in 308's anymore. Hello - I've heard from many sources that you can put a V-12 clutch kit into a 308 or 328. I've also heard from one source that said you couldn't. I've heard that with the additional ~150lbs of clamping force, it will require more legwork to use the clutch-- which I am fine with. The person that told me that it couldn't be done said that it was largely because of the added 2mm of thickness. I would appreciate any feedback from folks that have experience or knowledge in this area. The specific part number I would be using for the V-12 kit is (Borg & Beck) 110557, with (SKF) bearing 100849. On a separate note-- any thoughts on the various 'kevlar' options? Many thanks & happy driving, - jsb ('87 328 GTS)
