Guys if you look back a few messages I outlined the steps for a major upgrade on 308 brakes AND even included some pics of my new system. I am now running 12.2" slotted-vented rotors with custom hats and 4 piston calipers all around. This is a fairly easy modification and will work on all cars with 16" or larger wheels. Charles (678)-427-0435 i have a kit price available if you like |

Hi Kev I was thinking about my brakes when i get to them the most for least pkg would be always run new brake lines scrap the brake bias leave the 914 rears so you dont lose your parking brake (or if you put 911 you will have to use a manuel pedal line lock for a parking brake)take out the monster brake booster and master cyl make a new angle mast cyl mount out of anything aircraftesque run 930 master cyl front brakes are really the only important ones (phil hill went down a mountain race with no brakes did a smooth job his passanger just thought he was being a great and fast driver but phil didnt want to upset his first time mountain ride with no brake anxiety he told him after the dinner party) anyways get some 930 brembos big reds (have had lots of good luck with them)or you can use wildwoods but this can be done about 2 hours and less than 800.00 its a pretty simple mod Joe |

As a side note the Pelican.com site also has a nice set of instructions on rebuilding the 308 (Porsche 914) rear calipers. |

The Forza 308 buyers guide issue had an add from a company that has big caliper/drilled rotor conversions, similar to the Red Hat upgrade for the 911. About $3k if I remember right... |

Hi Kev Ill be going through the same thing soon this is my first ferrari 78 308gts im converting to a gtb soon anyways ive had 911 n 930 for about 18 years now this 308 has the lowely 914 rear calipers and tiny rotors I have some old 930 and 911 brakes up in the attic im sure it will be an easy swap I do not want to knock ferrari engineering as I truly love the marque but some of their choices on the build sheet are questionable . I have the car torn down allready and im going to rebuild it my way I have a great knack for finding extreme quality for unreal price conversions. |

Am interested in general advice re upgrading vs restoring 87 308 brakes for the street. 1. Are front and rear calipers same as used on same era 911 or just pads? 2. Any recommendations for front caliper upgrades with 16" or prehaps 17" wheels. Thanx, Kevin ****** |
