I own a GTS and have taken rides in a GTB. One thing I'm certain of is the fact that the wind noise when you drive a GTS with the top on can get quite loud compared to a GTB. Trust me, anything you can still hear with the engine behind U howling at 7000RPM is loud! Of course with older seals, the occasional water leak in a major downpour is also inevitable. BUT, despite these problems, I will not swop for a GTB. Driving the car with the top off, more than makes up for the other issues. |

Unless your out racing it, who cares how stiff it is..... I don't think that came out quite right... At any rate go with your gut on that one. I happen to think the gtb looks better on a 308, that's why I bought mine. If I were to get a spyder, it would have to be a Daytona spyder. now that's my idea of tops off... What I would do before I bought either style, gtb or gts is drive both, or shag rides in either model from nearby owners and then you will know before you buy... Good Luck with your choice... |

Thanks for your responses! I still can't decide what I want. If I find the "right" car for me (all records, driven regularly, etc), I'll go for it whether it's a B or an S! |

I seem to be a convertible guy and do not care to drive my car with the top on. My 82 308 has some twist to it and is comparable to other convertibles I have had and currently own. the Chrysler Sebring is as solid feeling convertible as I have ever driven as it was designed to be a conv. from the beginning and not converted and reinforced in the aftermarket. I have heard that the Toyota Solara has a terrible cowl shake. |

I have owned my car for over a year and I'll bet I haven't played the radio much more than an hour total. |

My car has a radio? I never THOUGHT of turning it on, the V8 behind my head is all music I need. Maybe my car lacks squeaks because it is exceptionally tight? And maybe pigs have wings.... |

Anthony, your question specified "driving under normal conditions" so I would answer no... no SIGNIFICANT chassis quake (depending on what you consider normal driving)... but I can feel the chassis twist a bit over railroad tracks and rough roads. I also love the roofline of the GTB but personally, I'll take the open top over the cleaner look and more rigid chassis. |

Hey Jim, maybe it helps if you turn the radio down a little! That little squeeking is normal on a Targa. The TB will definetely not have that and the windows will close better. If you love open air driving go with the GTS. You can do what I did and some others did as well, have the roof painted in the car color. Actually I did not do that, the previous owner did that! I would have done it though. Just make sure they match the color perfect and prep the top gooooooooddd. |

Anthony, I have been fortunate enough to own one GTB and two GTS's and I can tell you for certain that the GTB is more rigid, although you would need to drive both for some time before you would notice any difference at all. That is not to say that the GTS is not sturdy as well as rigid, but that there is some difference that you can tell after spending time in both. I will areee with you about the roof line being very pleasing to the eye. The squeaking that you noticed is more than likely the gasket just needing something put on it to grease it. Any rubber will squeak when it is dry. All I can tell you is to spend time in both and just pick the one you like the best. You will probably see quite a few more GTS's than GTB's as there were quite a few more of the GTS's made and there is more of a demand for the GTS's. Anyway, that is my $.02. Good Luck Robert |

The top on my 328 hasn't squeaked yet. At least not that I've noticed! I drive it almost exclusively with the top off, and am constantly amazed at how rigid it is. This month I took it over 5 mountain passes and through 2 canyons at excessive speed, and chassis rigidity never entered my mind. I usually chickened out before the car had even approached its limits. Drive one of each if you can find them, and decide for yourself! |

A new "snag" came up in my search for a 308. At first, I was dead set on a GTS. Now, after seeing some GTBs, I am torn. I love the roof line of the GTB and I know the chassis should be a little bit more rigid. Since I will not be tracking the car, this may be negligile but I am wondering if anyone could comment on this matter. Is there noticable chassis quake on a GTS when driving under normal conditions? I drove one with the top on and after making several low speed turns, the top squeaked against it's gasket due to chassis flex. I found this very annoying. Is this common? Thank You. |
