HI JOE, on the 82 mondials, they have a real problem with the fuse box, I also own one of these, sounds like you have that problem, a new box is over $1000, I was able to repair mine , once I got into it , It was a cake walk, the fuel pump, coolant fan, signal lights, an A/C circuts were burned out, I was able to hardwire point to point ,from the fuse connection to the relays, eliminating the circut board connections and curing the problem, these fuse boxes come apart real easy..thats the first place I would look, also the fuse board that holds all the fuses, they have a real chinsey system of connecting to the main fuse board, look for burning connections on the wires and look on the white long plugs for signs of burning, I can email you a picture of what they look like when they go.....check it out and let me know ....Ang

OK, I am having a problem with my Mondial. It starts up in the morning everyday without any problems, idle is smooth and high and goes down after warmup. So far so good. Now I take it for a drive and after about 4 to 5 miles the car will completely die. No ignition or spark at all. After waitng for about 45 minutes, the car will start up and run for about 1 to 2 miles and die again.
Ignition coils seem to be ok,and all 3 electromagnetic pickup sensors were replaced.
The last thing would be the 2 electronic modules
which are very expensive, plus why would both fail at the same time? Highly unlikely.

The owners manual indicates the Mondial as having a Marelli MED 801 electronic system. This particular system has thermoswitch mounted on the engine coolant expansion tank to control the ON-OFF signal which I believe is somehow tied to the electronic modules harness. Do you think this may be the problem? Anybody out there know?

I also have a 308QV with a similar ignition system but it is a Marelli MED805 and that system does not have this thermoswitch.

Help please!!

Joe
