I got a suggestion from Ferrarilist to take off the connections to the distributors, clean and treat with Stabilant 22 contact enhancer, this fixed the problem for a gentleman with a Mondial 3.2. |

Dave, As we speak, mine is out being repaired. This is a notorious problem with tachs associated with the 3.2 motors. Half speed is common, but they can also be off 10,20,30%. They have a mind of their own. My mechanic has sent it to a place in Albuquerque. Sorry I don't have the name/address right now. DAve |

BTW, if someone could direct me to the sensors and related connection points in the engine compartment; I was thinking that cleaning the grounds and connections may be helpful.

Well, I checked the archives which confirmed others have had the same problem, but there didn't seem to be a definitive answer to how to fix this. Here are the symptons. Started the car today after sitting for a couple days (drove 300 miles last weekend), tach reads about 1/2 what it should...very strange, goes up and down with engine speed, just reads about half what it should. Suggestions in an old thread seemed to think that rebuilding the tach was in order.... |
