Hi I recently replaced my 348 battery with a interstate (to stay original equip ferrari) what a waste...it lasted barely a year. My mechanic replaced it with something else ( before I could get to him and buy a optima instead) I will not bother with interstate again and when this battery dies, it will be optima for me.

I couldn't agree more with OMPTIMA, however if you need a reverse terminal one, you will need to get the orange top instead of the red. Almost every one I know has them in their cars (incl. most Ferrari's).

Don, I know you are a Bay Area Local - do a yellow pages search for: Interstate Battery System (there is one in Fremont and one in South SF) they will sell them to you wholesale (cash) for about $100, they normally retail about $150.

When you think about that the top DieHard or whatever costs $60-80, the extra $20-40 ain't bad.

PS. I also carry a battery buddy (mini jumper box $70 from Sears) in my TR - I have had to rescue folks in my TR before and I don't like jumper cables.

There has been a lot of talk here about OPTIMA batteries. I went out last week and replaced my 328 battery with a "red top" ---34/78 size. You can search for old information on "Optima", and you can find info here:

The battery on my newly purchased 348 won't hold a charge. There doesn't seem to be any problems with the charging circuit and the battery is 4 years old so I'm going to assume that this is the problem. It has an Interstate battery in it, any recommendations out there on a replacement? I read somewhere about a battery that is specially designed for cars that are driven on an infrequent basis but I can not find the article. Anyone heard of abattery like that? Is it worth (what I assume to be) extra cost?

Thanks
