Gear box vent at the left rear side of the engine? Mine has only a floating dust cover on it and could possibly puke gear oil if over filled and run up to operating temp. Once it did it wouldn't happen again because of the 'self leveling' after venting off the excess. '78 GTS Just a thought. DJ |

Ron: Best find out specifically where the oil is coming from. If it is a 'problem' seal - getting oil on cam belt, or some other critical organ - then you'd better get it fixed pronto. If it's, say, the base of the rear distributor, it could probably wait until your next service. Check the oil drain plug itself. When I first got my car, someone had reused the copper washer one too many times, and it basically didn't seal at all. |

No, it was oil. And, as I said, it never did it again. |

Hi all. When I drove my 328 190 miles 2 weeks ago, "it pee'd oil over the driveway" the FIRST night. Then, the next few days, I monitored the leak and I measured about an ounce over a period of about 10 days. Is it bec. oil is more "fluid" when hot? Is this OKAY? |

Was the pee coolant? My car did that when I had my ex-mechanic refill the coolant after a water pump repleacement. There is no coolant recovery tank, just a hose at the top of the swirl pot that lets out over the rear tire. When you don't leave 4" of air space in the swirl pot, expansion makes a nice doggie like pee when you turn the car off. If the pee was oil, I'd worry. |

Funny (and true) story: I took my car to the mechanic 6 months or so ago to get several oil leaks fixed. After driving it 200 miles to get home, it pee'd oil all over the driveway. I couldn't figure out where it came from, and it never ever did it again. I think it was pissed that I took it to the 'Doctor'. |

Are you sure you put oil back in the engine? No leaks doesn't sound natural :-) |
