With my tanks currently bone-dry empty, I'll be noting at which quantities of fuel correspond to the readings on the gauge as I fill it up. The fuel-level sender float at the lowest position is still about 4-6 inches above the tank floor. According to my O.M. I have a reserve of 15L and my tanks are 75L in total. So when I fill up +15L of fuel, that's when the low-level light should go out... In a perfect world... We'll see.... |

Krister -- I think you're onto a very reasonable explanation (someone confusing 20 + 5 for the actual 20 total of which 5 is considered the reserve). Can some confirm what's listed in the OM as the fuel tank spec for a Mondial QV or 2-valve for comparison? |

Steve - I should have mentioned that it seems to allow just ~76 liters after emptying it. This is why I wonder if there is some kind of reserve tank? It seems the specification is obsolete. The documentation people who wrote the instruction manual probably missinterpreted the 20 liters, 5 gallon reserve. Aren't there any Mondial owners who wondered about the capacity spec? |

Krister -- I'd tend to doubt the capacity specification first as my TR only has a 100 liter tank for the larger V12 (and I know the early V8s are about 70 liter -- but I have no idea about your Mondial t). When you fill up after running out how much goes back in? |

WHO EVER SAID ITALIANS COULD MAKE A PROPER GAS GUAGE? MINE NEVER READS THE SAME TWICE. PARK ON A SLIGHT GRADE THE LOW FUEL LIGHT COMES ON ROLL IT TO LEVEL GROUNG IT READS 3/4 FULL. WITH TWO GAS TANKS AND ONE SENDING UNIT ITS ALL IN HOW YOU PARK OR ARE YOU MAKING MORE LEFT TURNS OR RIGHTS? |

Hi all, especially Mondial t owners Several discussions have concluded that the fuel gauges in Ferraris are of a not to good construction ok? So we all drive by our odometers in order to find the time when to refuel. To the problem: In my instruction manual it says that the capacity of the fuel tank is 96 lit or 25 gal and a 20 lit, 5 gal reserve hmm. I kind of assume that the reserve is included in the full capacity. My average fuel consumption is 1,3 lit/10 km (0,34 gal/10 km), which seems fair. For the second time i have come to the crude conclusion that I can not drive more than approximately 600 km before the tank is empty. 600 km X 1,3 lit/10 km = 78 lit. To the questions: Is there a missprint in the instruction manual? Is there a secret switch, not found in the instruction manual, for the last 20 lit or 5 gal of fuel? Somehow my missing 20 lit, 5 gal, coincides with the specification of the reserve quantity! I do intend to check my odometer more thoroughly with a GPS some time. In the mean time, any comments or suggestions? |
